In the spirit of giving back and in alignment with the tradition of community reinvestment that is a core value at the school, Hawai Technology Institute faculty, staff, and students contributed toys to the Lokahi Tree Project and brought smiles to the faces of children whose lives are often fraught with challenges.

In another random act of holiday kindness, Papakolea homesteader, Charlotte Kaluna, spread Christmas joy throughout the homes of HTI Ohana. Ms. Kaluna teamed up with Lanay’tte “Ipo” Paia,  of Salvation Army’s O`ahu Family Services – Honolulu Office.  The two worked tirelessly together to donate over 100 Toys-for-Tots Christmas presents to the children, grandchildren and other young family members and friends of HTI’s faculty and staff.  “Ms. Kaluna’s selflessness and compassion embodies the true meaning of Christmas,” says Naomi Digitaki, President / CEO of HTI.

Residents at Shriners Hospital for Children Family Center – a part of HTI’s extended Ohana - were delighted to receive presents that were personally delivered to them by Ms. Digitaki.
Ms. Kaluna commended HTI’s staff and faculty for the service they give to Hawaii’s people – young and old – and their dedication and support to the school throughout its 25 years.

MAHALO NUI, Charlotte Kaluna, Lanay’tte Paia / Salvation Army, Toys for Tots and everyone else who contributed to bringing even more holiday cheer to our hearts and homes this past Christmas season!
