"Merry Mea'ai" - A Holiday Fun-Rai$er
On Friday, December 21, 2009, HTI students of OTP2 – Fall09 session worked with faculty and staff to host a Spaghetti Dinner & Rummage Sale at Hawai`i Technology Institute. Thin spaghetti pasta topped with a meaty spaghetti sauce and parmesan cheese with salad and garlic bread sold for only $6.50. Clothes in a surprising variety of sizes and styles were donated for the rummage sale – pieces sold for 25 cents each. A delicious array of baked goods sold the fastest at $1.00 each.
“We doubled our profit. I’m very pleased for a short-term fundraiser. The food was so ono,” shared Financial Aid Assistant, Johnette Kaluna, who oversaw coordination of the sale. “And it’s a good feeling too because the plates and clothes that we didn’t sell went to the homeless who frequent Mother Waldron Park and its surrounding streets and sidewalks. And there were a lot of clothes and just enough plates left over!”
Thank you to all of our neighbors for contributing to our efforts. Look forward to another HTI Fun-Rai$er soon!
