All Hallow's Eve - HTI Style

Thursday - October 30, 2008

The bewitching hour had arrived at HTI.  They were all there!  Witches, ghouls and goblins!  Fabulously, outrageously and beautifully costumed men and women at Hawai`i Technology Institute’s (HTI) “Halloween Gala” event held on the eve of Halloween at HTI’s Pohukaina Street campus.  Although October 30th is not Halloween, you would have never guessed it from the howling of laughter caused by wanna-be witches flying around, rushing for glitter, lipstick, and cans of colorful hairspray.

The pot luck event was shared by three of HTI’s night programs.  Trainees in the Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Office Technology Management classes all joined in on the festivities.  If ever there is wonder about how to throw a potluck, though it isn’t one of the offered courses, enroll at HTI.  Any and all questions will be answered – many times over in a variety of ways!  The buffet spread of food was fit for royalty, and there was enough to feed at least 100 hungry mouths.  The table held everything from Kalua Pig and Cabbage to homemade Chicken Long Rice and Banana Lumpia to an assortment of pasta from Pizza Hut.   Though only about 50 festive people were in attendance, there was little left to take home.

The desserts were mouth-watering, button-popping experiences.  A dessert lover would have reason to believe (s)he had died and gone to heaven.  Cinnabons of all flavors, Chocolate cake, Banana Cream Pies, Brownies to die for – just a few choices our witches, ghouls and goblins shared with each other.  It was quite difficult for the students to go to class after a feast such as this, but with full bellies and blissful smiles on their faces, the witches dragged their brooms, the ghouls limped and goblins scurried back to their respective coffins…uh….corners and got back to work. Another wonderful memory made at Hawai`i Technology Institute.
