HTI at Nanaikapono Elementary School

Hawaii Technology Institute is collaborating with Nanaikapono Elementary School’s EvenStart Program to offer computer and life skills classes at their campus in Nanakuli beginning April 2008.  The class has been offered at Nanaikapono since 2007 and started up again in February this year.

The classes are integrated and offered in four-class series: two covering various life skills topics and the following two incorporating the learning from life skills into computer-generated products using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Life Skills curriculum focuses on self-assessment, discovery and awareness, constructing a world view, time management and numerous other aspects of personal foundation development.   The computer portion of the series covers core skills set in each of the software applications.

“There is so much power and influence in working together for the development of our communities.   Where resources permit, HTI will continue to provide training and education services that will positively impact the lives of students HTI is privileged to serve,” says Naomi
Digitaki, the institute’s President / CEO and a Waianae Coast resident.

Each class in a series runs from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when parents break to have lunch with their keiki.  A half-hour later, the class continues for another 2½ hours.  Nanaikapono supplies the Mac laptops, and the entire group supplies the laughter and good times!

If you are a parent of a Nanaikapono Elementary student and are interested in the integrated Computer Literacy / Life Skills classes offered there by Hawaii Technology Institute, contact Stephanie Bellefeuille at the school and ask about NES EvenStart Program.  Call today! (808) 522-2700
