HTI Announces GAME PROTOTYPE UNVEILING

Honolulu, Hawai`i (7/7/08) - Hawaii Technology Institute’s Annual Summer Tech Product Designers, a group of Native Hawaiian youth ranging in age from 14 to 21, announces the unveiling of their game prototypes on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hawai`i Technology Institute, 629 Pohukaina Street in Honolulu.   Midway through the work experience, Product Designers have been responsible for designing and creating new, modified or customized prototypes of games focused on the development of literacy in various subject areas.

Government and other officials, leaders of community organizations, family and friends as well as the media are invited to the institute for an overview of the literacy areas used as framework for game development, preview online computer games and play hands-on game prototypes fashioned by the designers in a three-week period.

Youth have also contributed to the creation of a game modeled after Monopoly that provides a global view of several countries for which the designers have become ambassadors in a simulated International Economic Summit.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and there will be light refreshments and snacks.  The overview presentation will begin sharply at 5:30 p.m. and the unveiling of the games will take place shortly thereafter.
