Who We Are

HTI promotes learning that takes place in a fast-paced environment modeling real life experiences.  Our instructors bring years of experience and professional accomplishment to the classroom.  They share skills and industry knowledge that will help prepare you for success in your chosen field.

Faculty:

Frank Ward — Medical Instructor
Frank Ward brings more than 25 years of nursing and management experience to HTI’s classroom.  Specializing is cardiac care; Ward has assisted in the development of top-performing cardiac departments in several hospitals.  In addition to teaching at HTI, Ward also provides clinical supervision and instruction to students in hospital clinical settings.

Sherry Archer — Medical Instructor
Originally from Lubbock, Texas, Sherry Archer has been a nurse for 15 years.  Archer was a nurse and patient educator at the Joe Arrington Cancer Center and honored as “Nurse of the Year” by the Lubbock Avalanche Journal Readers Choice Awards.  In addition to teaching medical assistant classes at HTI, Archer works at Kapiolani Medical at Pali Momi and is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education.

John Hung — Pharmacy Instructor
Born and raised in Honolulu, John Hung received his BA in Chemistry from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, his MBA from Chaminade University, and his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Washington State University.  He is currently a pharmacist at City Pharmacy and is studying to become a certified Diabetes educator.  

Uilani Arakaki — Computer Instructor (PC Fundamentals, Keyboarding, Spreadsheets, Microsoft Word & Access)
A graduate of HTI, Uilani Arakaki has been a lifelong teacher in the Hawaiian community.  Her passion for community teaching spans a variety of areas — swimming, church outreach, and Hawaiian arts and crafts.  Arakaki has taught courses in the Women’s Correctional Community Center in Kailua and at HTI’s ‘Na Wahine O Ke Au Hou, – an evening certification program for women.

Julie Medeiros — Computer Instructor (Word Processing, Career Transition, Keyboarding)
Julie Medeiros is a graduate of HTI.  She began her teaching career here as an instructional aide and specializes in computer literacy development.  Over the last nine years, Medeiros has been dedicated to helping students at HTI make a successful transition back in to the classroom and the workforce through the Career Transition program. 

Margaret Teng — Career Development Instructor
Margaret Teng’s extensive background as an executive health care recruiter and professional staffing consultant is an invaluable asset to HTI’s career development and job placement service.  Teng adds an international perspective to her professional development courses with her years of work experience in England, Spain, and India.  She received her MBA in Finance from Hawaii Pacific University in 2005.

KC Gardner-Bougard — Business Communications Instructor
As a former journalist and public relations account executive, KC Gardner-Bougard specializes in facilitating effective communications.  Gardner-Bougard’s work on local media campaigns has been honored by the Hawaii Chapters of the International Association of Business Communicators and the Public Relations Society of America.  

Se Young Cho - Pharmacy Technician Instructor
Se Young Cho has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Hawaii in Manoa and has been a certified Pharmacy Technician for over 5 years. Prior to joining HTI, Se worked in the healthcare field for 7 years.Se definitely has an unorthodox teaching method that integrates realexperiences in the pharmaceutical professional setting in classroom activities.

Erleen Ah You - Medical Assistant Instructor
Erleen Ah You brings more than 30 years of licensed practical nursing experience to HTI. Additionally, she has a Bachelor's degree in Health Administration and a Master's degree in Publich Health from the University of Hawaii.  Erleen enjoys reading, crafts and plays the bass and flute in a church band.  Being in the classroom is something that Erleen has become passionate about and loves the uniqueness in each of her students.

Tresa Pea - Medical Assistant Instructor
Tresa Pea graduated from BYU-Hawaii with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Biology/Pre-Med. She is currently pursuing a Medical Technology degree at John Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. In addition to teaching at HTI, Tresa currently works as a Paramedical Examiner/Client Services Representative for Quest Diagnostics, the leading provider of diagnostic and laboratory services in the nation. Tresa loves teaching and is excited about seeing her students learn and grow and pursue careers that will make a difference in their lives as well as others in their circle of influence.

Dawn Enfield - Medical Assistant Instructor
Dawn has 4 years of experience as a registered nurse in a variety of healthcare settings in Hawaii.  A graduate of Kamehameha Schools and Hawaii Pacific University’s nursing program, Dawn has developed a fondness for teaching and enjoys the rapport she has with her students. She certainly appreciates the change that teaching has brought to her professional life and enjoys the contrast between working in healthcare environments and the classroom. Dawn spends most of her leisure time with her 2-year old daughter Tehani.
